MAY UPDATE---tons of projects!!

I am so beyond thrilled about this month's update!!
We have the work of our beautiful team.

We are starting something new. Not only will my team be designing with MLS items every month. We'll be playing with other manufactures to show how our products work well with theirs!! (Next month, Clear Scraps!!!)

We had the opportunity to work with HAMBLY this month. Thank you to the Hambly team for providing such awesome products.
This month we also focused on fun technique's using our CHIPBOARD alphabet and our transparencies.

We started something else. We are choosing awesome guest designers every month to create with our lines. This month we have the awesome, Nichol Magouirk. She rocked it!

Just THREE more weeks to turn in your submissions

I am so thrilled about all the beautiful submissions coming in and that have come in, in the past.
Just wanted to send out a reminder that you have exactly THREE weeks to turn in your submissions. The ending date is May 15th by midnight.
I will be calling the designers that are chosen on June 1st. Look for a 510 area code. :) Those chosen will need to be ready, because your first set of assigments will be to create for CHA, Florida with all our new lines that we are working on.

Did you turn in your submission a long time ago? Don't worry, I still have them, and am still looking through them again, but send a plug to yourself. Just reply here and tell me to give YOUR submission another really good peak!! :) That'll tell me that you are still really interested!!

CHA, Summer is just around the corner and we are working really hard on these next lines. They are coming out really fun!!
There will be a lot of MLS girls at CHA!! We are getting a condo and planning to do some really fun things.
Going to CHA with me is Erin Yamabe, Molly Peckham, Tanisha Long, Norma Kennedy, Pattie Beltran, and Helen Chu!
We hope that you will come and visit us.

My Little Shoebox is looking for some talented scrappers, motivated, responsible designers who have time to commit to design layouts and projects each month from our product lines.

We are looking for:
1. Creative individuals that are able to do 2 different types of projects each month such as layouts, cards, and projects with our products.
2. You must post your work on 2 different galleries plus the MLS galleries
3. You must be available to commit to a 12 months term, which begin June 2009.
4. You must be a resident of the United States or Canada and at least 18 years of age or older. 5. Help judge any contests during your term (as needed.)
6. There are additional opportunities available to use our products to teach at your local scrapbook store.
7. You agree to release the rights of your designs to My Little Shoebox for display on the company website and in the company publications.
8. If needed your designs may also need to show at trade show.
9. In addition, as a design team member, you will be contributing twice per term to our company newsletter. You can post this on your personal blog.
In return you will receive:

1. A monthly package of our wonderful products.
2. Your choice of MLS products.
3. Your picture and bio on the My Little Shoebox website
4. Your own personal gallery on My Little Shoebox website

I love our monthly updates!! Why? Because it's packed filled with a ton of different projects created by our design team and guests that have sent me some of their pretties!!

I'll start by showing of our DT work and then on to our guests.

MLS in Massachusetts!!

I am so excited about going to Massachusetts! I love it there! Every time I go, I want to stay! :) I am going with a really good friend and design team member!!

anyway, I will be at the Sue gilman/Collins trade show a long with other manufactures, reps, retailers, etc. I'm teaching a class, doing make n' takes, and more.

As soon as I get back, I'm going to put up the April updates. I have tons of awesome layouts and projects to show ya!!

Hi there! I wanted to update you on the NEW design team search.

We are thrilled to be getting sooooo many submissions. It's so inspiring to see so many different amazing projects. You are making it really hard for me!! :)

Transparency Tutorial--"on the wings of love"

How to project: TRANSPARENCY

Transparency's are an awesome way to enliven your pages!

Pattie created a fun page highlighting the versitility of transparency's.

Cut out the pieces that you are going to use. You can adhere them with all kinds of adhesives including:

liquid, pop dots, and tape runners.

Pattie wanted to add some pizzaz to the button so she adhered the flower transparency.

After she adhered her pieces, she added stickles to give it some shimmer.
This is an example of what it looks like.
Here's another fun way to layer. She cut around the pieces and added pop dots in certain areas. This creates dimension with out bulk.

Another way to highlight your transparency is to paint beneath them.

Use your liquid adhesive to adhere your transparency.

The paint really highlights the overlay.

add some oomph to your chipboard by layering transparency's over them.

I love Hambly Heavy Overlays. They are a lot of fun to play with.

I am going to Farmingham, Massachusetts in less than two weeks

to teach at the Collins Rep Show.

I will be teaching a really fun class using MLS and Hambly. I'm teaching a book using the Neighborhood line.

Anyways, some of my girls were creating the other night with Hambly to have as samples in MA and there was ONE extra sheet of the overlay, so I did the project above.

I (HEART) Hambly overlays! I also (heart) their new transparency's.
Allison rocks!! If you haven't checked out their new stuff, go to their site! You'll love them!

*Create a layout of any theme and size using 85% My Little Shoebox Product.

*Upload your project to the gallery - don't forget to check the "my little shoebox + two peas layout contest" box under member challenges to be included in the challenge!

*Your layout should have at least FIVE tags associated with it.

Scrapperiet in Sweden and Marci Knecht

Misan & Lotta, owners of Scrapperiet in Sweden,

had the opportunity to be part of a scrapbook show.

They say that "My Little Shoebox is so popular in Sweden" and that almost everything

"sold out" at the show.
I wanted to know more about how MLS was doing at their store and here's what she said. :

1. How is my little shoebox doing for you?
Very, very good!

2. Did a lot of people by our product at your event?
Yes - it almost sold out completly!

3. What was the most popular items?
The scalloped round papers!

4. Tell me about your store.
We have a webstore (online) and me and my partner(Lotta Carlsson) have owned it a year! It´s really exciting and fun. We sell things for scrapbooking and cardmaking.

They asked Jenny Sandberg, team member for a Scrapbook Magazine in Sweden to be a guest designer for their store. They gave Jenny some of our MLS products and this is a layout that she created!! Jenny rocks!!

Hi there!! I've received several emails about MLS dt search so I thought I'd give you the scoop here to make sure you all see it.

*International submissions--We'd love to have dt members from all around the world but as of right now the owner says, "not yet". I'm taking the "not yet" as maybe...soon, we will be able to. We'l keep you posted on this.

Submissions turned in from the early call--I still have your submissions. You do NOT have to turn in something new, UNLESS you want to. I am more than happy to look at whatever you send me.

Do the submissions need to have mls?--no, you can turn in whatever you would like.

Hi there!! As you know, this has been a very exciting month for MLS! Our new releases came out and we have had fun creating with them!!

We are also excited because we decided to expand our little dt family.

I've enjoyed reading about so many awesome designers and getting to see their work.

It was so hard to narrow it down! SOOOOOO hard, that at first I thought...ONE person...then I thought...TWO designers....and finally I said...THREE....With more to come in our regular call.

Since I am picking someone from here, I wanted to give you the information first....after you read the submissions...the information that follows is for you that have posted on the this blog already.

My Little Shoebox is looking for some talented scrappers, motivated, responsible designers who have time to commit to design layouts and projects each month from our product lines.

We are looking for:
1. Creative individuals that are able to do 2 different types of projects each month such as layouts, cards, and projects with our products.
2. You must post your work on 2 different galleries plus the MLS galleries
3. You must be available to commit to a 12 months term, which begin June 2009.
4. You must be a resident of the United States or Canada and at least 18 years of age or older. 5. Help judge any contests during your term (as needed.)
6. There are additional opportunities available to use our products to teach at your local scrapbook store.
7. You agree to release the rights of your designs to My Little Shoebox for display on the company website and in the company publications.
8. If needed your designs may also need to show at trade show.
9. In addition, as a design team member, you will be contributing twice per term to our company newsletter. You can post this on your personal blog.
In return you will receive:

1. A monthly package of our wonderful products.
2. Your choice of MLS products.
3. Your picture and bio on the My Little Shoebox website
4. Your own personal gallery on My Little Shoebox website

MLS Question/Answer and more!!

Hi there!! I've had several emails with different questions so I thought I'd address them here so you can all see the answers. I thought I'd throw in a quick layout I did with some scraps that I had left over from CHA.

Q-Can I send you my link privately?
A-Yes. Just let me know you are going to email it to me. Add your name so I know who you are.

Q-Does this count as my submission?

A. No. I WILL pick at least one team member from those that HAVE posted here, BUT you still have to submit.

Q-Do I need to submit layouts with MLS products?

A-nope. (we'd love to see them if you have them)

Q-Is the new MLS release shipping?

A-Yes. Lots of stores are getting it or have it already.

Q-Do you have a store? What if I can't find it?

A- I do but it's NOT an online store. I would prefer you try to support your LSS or the online stores getting it but you can contact me if you can't find it.

We havebeen super busy!! In less than a week Erin, Helen, and myself will be setting up our new My Little Shoebox booth!

Just a reminder, I am teaching a class on Saturday night at 6:30pm. It's called, Just add water if you sign up but it's really the Home is where the heart is class. It's stacked FILLED with amazing products!! Let's just say it took a LONG time to get all of the stuff in all the bags!

Besides My Little Shoebox, you will be getting products from Kaiser Crafts, 3L adhesives, and Ranger. I cant' wait for you to see the package of stuff!! So much fun!!

...and onto some projects! There are more but here is a sampling! You'll be seeing all of these projects at CHA live!! :)

I really truly can not wait til' you see our new lines and all the fun things we have done with them!

So I know that I get excited about new lines that I like, but this one??? OMG I want to just get it all and hug it...forever!LOL

So I can't say much but I can tell you this...ready?

We got 1-2-3-4-5-6 YES...6 new lines that we are releasing!! OH YEAH BABY!

oh and we have 6 new (FILL IN THE BLANK TEASE) and 6 (FILL IN ANOTHER BLANK TEASE)

Did I tell you how excited I was?

Another cool thing we did...Paper weight? All the new papers are CARDSTOCK weight!

GIDDY??? I say YES!

Last....each one of the lines has something NEW that we have never done before! I can't wait to show you guys!

Septemer Layouts and how to's

HI there fellow scrappers. We have this months new layouts. ENJOY!!

Here's a quick one thatI created. (In my garden)

This month it was Danielle's turn to do a how to. You will have fun creating this little project!!

I began with a Maya Road chipboard album that was 5.5 x 5.5 and the My Little Shoebox Orange Marmalade line.

1) Cut paper to fit each page. (5.5 x 5.5)
2) Cut photos to fit. (5.5 x 4 usually)

3 ) Adhere paper and photos from steps 1 & 2. On each left page I placed paper and on each right page I placed a photo.

4) Use a sanding tool to make all the edges of the book nice and even.

5) I used a Fiskars punch to make a border for each photo. I adhered it to the edge of the photo that did not meet the edge of the book. Occasssionaly I used a sticker.
6) For the left hand pages, I used a die cut and adhered it over the patterned paper. I added journaling, some alphabet stickers in mint, the chipboard buttons or the overlays. Occasionally I added a random sticker or embellishment.

CHA was such a great show for My Little Shoebox.

We had such a fun time meeting a lot of new people.

We were thrilled to find out our new lines were so well received and excited to let you know that we are starting to ship products!

Yup, sooner than expected.

The other day I was at the warehouse with my son Jeremy and Helen helping to get the orders out!! It was so much fun playing with the products.

Hi there!! It was so wonderful to meet so many of you at CHA. We had a blast!!

Another layout and more exciting news!

CHA is just around the corner and we are excited about this new release.

I created this layout using the new "In The Garden" line.

I also used some of our white new Softie letters and our mini's.

Everything but the cardstock is MLS.

In other news...

Our airing on Scrapbook Memories TV is going to be on soon. When exactly? Well, we are not for certain but here's the information that we got.

The new series will be available to the viewers on July 15th. My Little Shoebox project will appear on show 2, so once the shows start to air, show 2 will be the following week.

The projects creating for the show were done before we picked the MLS dt and are part of our previous line. The girls that created the projects are the girls from my store. I would like to thank them for doing such a wonderful job!

Hi there gals! I've been so excited since we picked our new DT! The girls we chose are truly amazing! I'm having fun getting to know them better every day. I asked each of them to send me their bio, picture, and their first assignments. This is just ONE project they have created. They have done a lot more. You will see them on our website very soon.

Tanisha Long

My name is Tanisha Long from New Jersey. I am a wife of 6 years, the mother of 2 sons and I work full-time as a Research Technologist. I started scrapbooking just after my first son was born as a way to record his first year of life. The more I scrapped, the more passionate I became about this wonderful hobby. Scrapbooking allows me to record and preserve everyday occurrences in my family's life and provides me with a much needed creative outlet. I love to try different techniques and usually challenge myself to work outside of my box. Although I love pretty much everything scrap related, I have to say that my favorite products are all things acrylic, patterned paper, chipboard, bling, and the alphabet in any form!I am a published scrapper; my work can be found in Memory Makers, Creating Keepsakes, Scrapbooks Etc., Scrapbook Memories, Paper Crafts, Paper Trends, Somerset Memories, and Blue Media Idea Books. Hi! I am Gretchen McElveen. I live outside of Birmingham, AL with my husband and our dog. No kids for us yet…but soon! I work full time as a physical therapist in an outpatient clinic but of course I would rather be scrapbooking! My aunt introduced me to scrapbooking by way of Creative Memories during college but I did not really get into it until after we got married about 5 years ago. I still have (and use) the corner rounder that I bought during my first CM party. Scrapbooking is such an incredible hobby! It is my creative outlet and a way to express emotions and feelings I often have difficulty saying. It is my way of documenting life and the special people who are such a big part of it. I cannot think of a much better way of spending my time. I am excited to be able to share my work as a part of the My Little Shoebox team. Thank you so much for this opportunity!

I am a mother of 2 beautiful little boys Cade-8yrs, Seth-4yrs, a New Baby Girl as of July 2007 and a Twelve year old Sweet Niece who lives on and off with us.I am a Christian and a Latina. I have been married for 12 years to a wonderful, loving man who understands my passion for documenting my life and those in it. I have been scrapping layouts for about 4 years and started crafting by making cards about 5years ago. I luv trying and learning new techniques as part of my creating process.

Hi! My name is Emily Jones, I am Wifey to my Super Hunky Hubby James, and mommy to Joey (5), Jake (3) and Lily (Born 11-27-07). I have been scrapping for 12 years now, but have become OBSESSED since my oldest was born! If I had to describe my style, it would be, color, layers, texture! My name is Erin Yamabe. I'm a SAHM to two sweet and sassy girls! And I"m
married to an amazing father and my best friend. I've been seriously
scrapbooking for a little over 3 years now, and on/off for over a decade! My
passion has come out as my style has evolved and I am introduced to all these
beautiful products! I'm a teacher and designer for Picture Me Perfect, and my
first two books will be published this summer with Design Originals and Suzy

Hello! My name is Danielle Holsapple and I am a former junior high teacher turned SAHM! I live in a suburb of Kansas City with my husband, Jeff. We have a 3 yr old daughter, Kennedy, and an angel in Heaven, Sam. I have always enjoyed crafts and photos and finally put the two together about 8 years ago! Scrapbooking is now a passion of mine as well as a creative release. I enjoy both the creative process and the finished product!
